Cheltenham Day 4 betting tips

13:20 – TRITONIC

The Juvenile division has been ruled by the Irish for much of this season and they have a very strong hand in this race.

However, I was taken by the way the English-trained Tritonic won at Kempton last time out. I think he’ll love the Cheltenham hill as well as the fact that this race is more for a galloping stayer than a speedier jumper.

He was rated 99 on the Flat, so he’s clearly very good, and it would be great for his trainer Alan King to have another Cheltenham Festival winner.

13:55 – GANAPATHI (each way)

You can’t look too far away from Willie Mullins in the County Hurdle and, unsurprisingly, I’ve landed on two of his runners.

Ganapathi looks very well-handicapped off a mark of 140. He was a big eye-catcher in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown last time out but clearly didn’t stay 2m 6f, and this drop back to a fast run 2m will suit him. He has fantastic claims in a weak-looking renewal.

His stablemate Captain Kangaroo  may also go well at a big price. I think he’s been waiting for some better ground and a fast pace to aim at, so he could outrun his odds.

14:30 STREETS OF DOYEN (each way)

This race is one of the hardest puzzles to solve of the entire week. You could make a case for so many of the runners, but Streets Of Doyen was a good winner at Cheltenham in October and has beaten Flooring Porter, who won the Grade 1 Stayers’ Hurdle on Thursday.

He’s got winning course form, is battle hardened and could run into a place at a nice price.

15:05 LOSTINTRANSLATION

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the pinnacle of the week and, although you could make a case for plenty of those at the head of the market, last year’s third Lostintranslation looks overpriced to me.

He loves spring ground, goes well at Cheltenham and has valid excuses for his defeats this season. He’ll come on for his latest comeback run and, with Betway paying four places, he could sneak into one of them.

15:40 RED INDIAN (each way)

I’m no expert when it comes to Hunters’ Chases, but I like the way Red Indian won a point to point last time out. This yard have had good success in this sphere and the recent support in the market may be a good indicator.

16:15 ELIMAY

Elimay has been dubbed one of the certainties of the week by many and, while I’m not sure she’s bulletproof, she’s definitely going to be tough to beat. She’s a good jumper and her record is three from three in mares’ chases. She’s been great this season and her second to Allaho reads very well.

At a bigger price, Salsaretta  could run well. She knows how to win races having racked up a sequence of four in a row last season, and may have been working backwards from this race.

16:50 GENTLEMAN DU MEE (each way)

Gentleman Du Mee was hugely impressive when winning his only start for Willie Mullins at Naas in February.

He’s obviously been targeted for this race and they’ve booked the amazing young rider Simon Torrens, who is a name to remember. He is unexposed and may lack the experience needed for this type of race, but he’s clearly got ability.

At a huge price, Whatsupwithyou   should run a good race. He’s got good Cheltenham form and will be well suited by a return to the track. He gets on very well with rider Luca Morgan, too.
