Lay of the Day Strategy that works perfectly well on Betfair.com
Hi, I am sharing a nice Lay of the Day Strategy which works good on Betfair.
Here we set out and explain the “layoftheday” system. A suggested methodology for the identification of one horse per day to lay – the lay of the day!
All you need to apply the system is access to the internet as we use the Racing Post web site at http://www.racingpost.co.uk – everything you need is there to apply the selection criteria.
After applying the selection criteria, you may not get a qualifying horse every day. Now, on to the selection process…..
We apply the criteria to each race of the day. First, log on to the Racing Post web site and look at each race:
If the forecast favourite in the betting is odds-on or over 2/1, disregard that race and move on to the next. The system is only concerned with horses which are forecast to be the favourite by the Racing Post at odds of between 1/1 (even money) and 2/1.
If the forecast favourite is within the acceptable price range:
calculate the difference in price between the forecast favourite and second favourite click on the “selections” link and note down the number of tipsters think the forecast favourite will win (the fewer the better!) add the forecast price difference and the number of tipsters together
The horse with the lowest number is the suggested “lay of the day.”
In the event of more than one horse getting the same score, the elimination steps are:
lay the forecast favourite with the shortest distance in price to the forecast second favourite if still more than one, the forecast favourite with the fewest tipster selections if still more than one and the race is a handicap, the lay of the day is the forecast favourite of the handicap race if still more than one, take the race with the most runners
EXAMPLE:
In the 2.30 at Kempton, the forecast favourite is 6/4 and the second favourite is forecast at 2/1. The difference in price is 0.5. Four tipsters from the Racing Post selection box think the favourite will win. The price difference added to the number of tipsters is 0.5 + 4 = 4.5.
In the 4.00 at Southwell, the forecast favourite is 2/1 and the second favourite is forecast at 3/1. The difference in price is 1.0. Seven tipsters from the Racing Post selection box think the favourite will win. The price difference added to the number of tipsters is 1.0 + 7 = 8.0.
Thus, the suggested “layoftheday” is the forecast favourite in the 2.30 at Kempton.
